OpenAI ↔ Malta partnership
OpenAI and Malta announced a country-wide partnership on May 16, 2026, under the "OpenAI for Countries" initiative. Every Maltese citizen or resident aged 14 and older will receive a free one-year ChatGPT Plus subscription after completing a two-hour AI literacy course developed by the University of Malta, with a phased rollout beginning that month.
